Our Philosophy

Excellence
ELI’s staff ranks among the finest in the field of child abuse prevention and treatment today. Our therapists come from various professional backgrounds ranging from social work to education consultancy and psychiatry. Through training and work at ELI, they acquire knowledge and proficiency in a variety of novel therapeutic approaches to ensure that our clients receive the best, most effective care possible.
Adaptability
ELI adapts its practices to respond to emergent needs of society. Furthermore, we are committed to seeking innovative ways to meet these social challenges and to raising awareness. A prime example is the marked increase in recent year of cases of cyberbullying and dissemination of sensitive content on social platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and WhatsApp. The anonymity of the internet has also contributed to the prevalence of sexual predatory behaviors, abuse by peers, and online pedophilia. And it is compounded by the fact that our society, and especially the younger generations, spend larger portions of time online. To respond to the dangers of online abuse, ELI has adapted our prevention programs including “Safe Use of the Internet” and “Cyberbullying Prevention,” and modified our therapeutic modalities.
Diversity
Child abuse is a devastating human problem that is influenced by personal, psychological, emotional, and financial circumstances. It is also inseparable from social context and norms. Child rearing practices may differ from one community to another, and indeed evolve from one time-period to another. The same applies to society’s ability to acknowledge the nature and the scope of the problem, and to treat it accordingly. Israeli society is exceedingly complex, comprising multi-cultural elements, differing religious sectors, as well as closed communities from various cultural and immigrant backgrounds. This presents a challenge for ELI when it comes to child abuse intervention. We believe that therapy is based on open communication, recognition of and sensitivity to linguistic and cultural nuances, and above all – on the cultivation of trust. One proven effective methodology of ELI has been to identify and offer professional training to social workers and care professionals from within their respective communities who work directly with the population they know and understand to address the problem of child abuse.
The Right to Receive Quality Care
Emotional scars as a result of abuse are deep and may have severe implications, especially when left untreated. Personal safety is a fundamental human right as is access to the best possible therapy when this right has been violated. We believe that every person who suffers trauma deserves the very best care without a waiting period and irrespective of the person’s financial capabilities. ELI has treated thousands of victims of child abuse throughout the years, and in many cases has even helped finance the treatments. Getting the proper care is the only way to heal the wounds of abuse, diminish the pain, and help children and adults who suffered abuse in the past to regain trust in themselves and others, and live a healthy, productive life.
